Using "Child Care Works" at Ready Roos

Help with the cost of care

Ready Roos Early Learning Academy welcomes families who use Child Care Works (CCW), Pennsylvania’s subsidized child care program. CCW can pay part of your tuition, and you pay a weekly co-pay based on your income and family size.

CCW is run locally by the Early Learning Resource Center Region 3 (ELRC3), which serves Butler County. ELRC3 decides eligibility; Ready Roos cannot approve or process a CCW application. We are happy to walk you through the steps below.

Could my family qualify?

You may be eligible if:

  • You live in Pennsylvania.

  • You need child care while you work or attend school or training.

  • You work at least 20 hours a week or work at least 10 hours and attend school or training for at least 10 hours.

  • Your household income is within the state limits for your family size.

  • Your child is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Income limits change every year. Check the current figures on ELRC3’s Help With Costs page. Teen parents, families experiencing homelessness, foster families and children in Pre-K Counts or Head Start may qualify for priority funding. If you are not sure, apply anyway: ELRC3 will tell you.

How to use CCW at Ready Roos: Step by Step

  1. Tour Ready Roos and reserve your place. Visit us, choose your schedule and tell us you plan to use CCW. We will explain our CCW terms and give you the details you need for your application.

  2. Apply to ELRC3. Apply online through COMPASS, or use a paper application from ELRC3 (download, pick up, or ask for one by mail or email). Name Ready Roos Early Learning Academy as your chosen child care provider. If you apply through COMPASS, also complete ELRC3’s Authorization Form.

  3. Send your documents. Use ELRC3’s New Application Checklist. You will usually need photo ID, proof of address, proof of family members (such as birth certificates or custody orders) and proof of all income, including child support. There are extra forms if you are self-employed, in school or training, or recently started a new job.

  4. Reply quickly to any ELRC3 letter. ELRC3 will write to you listing anything still missing. Sending it back promptly is the best way to avoid delays.

  5. Get your decision. ELRC3 will mail you a notice. If you are eligible, ELRC3 will call when funding is available and confirm your weekly co-pay. At times there is a waiting list for funding.

  6. ELRC3 lets us know. ELRC3 notifies Ready Roos once you are approved. We then confirm your start date, co-pay and billing with you.

  7. Complete enrollment and start. Finish your Ready Roos enrollment paperwork and welcome to Ready Roos!

What CCW families pay at Ready Roos

All families are invoiced on the 1st of each month. Monthly tuition is paid in advance each month.

Weekly co-pays are converted to a monthly amount and billed on a bi-weekly basis

For example: Say a family copay is $90 per week, this is annualized by multiplying $90 x 52 weeks = $4,680 then dividing $4,680 by 12 months = $390 per month. Bi-weekly payment = $390 divided by 2 = $195.

Starting before CCW approval?

  • Your start date is set once ELRC3 has notified us of your approval.

If ELRC3 has a waiting list

  • Ready Roos will add your child to a waitlist while you wait for funding.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does Ready Roos decide whether I qualify?
    No. Only ELRC3 can decide eligibility and set your co-pay.

  • How long does approval take?
    It depends on how complete your application is and whether ELRC3 has a waiting list. Sending every document ELRC3 asks for, as quickly as possible, is the best way to speed things up.

  • What if my job, hours or income change?
    Tell ELRC3 straight away, as changes can affect your eligibility or co-pay. Please let us know too.

  • Can I use CCW for part-time schedules?
    Ready Roos can only accept 5-day enrollments in conjunction with CCW.
